BAD THINGS COME IN 3'S!

Indie Shaggy	Eden at the vets!

Meet our three Orthopaedic cases!

INDIE
Indie was found abandoned and taken in by DBARC
She was obviously uncomfortable on one of her back legs - and when she was spayed, x-rays were taken to see what the problem was
She was found to have a dislocated hip - which was an old injury this poor cat had been living with for sometime (was this why she was dumped?)
Because it had been left untreated, the vet had to remove the head of her hip - and she has made excellent progress since
She has now been successfully re-homed

SHAGGY
Shaggy came to us from a pound after being found as a stray
He was very lame on one of his back legs - so we sent him off to the vet for x-rays
The vet was amazed at what he found! He had previously broken his thigh bone which had been pinned, but the pin was badly placed and was sticking out the top of his leg destroying the head of his hip, and was also pushing down into his knee joint stopping him using his knee properly
The vet phoned us to tell us what he had found, and told us he may have to remove the leg if the damage the pin had done was too severe
Luckily for Shaggy the vet managed to remove the pin and felt his knee joint should recover from the trauma - but unfortunately the damage done to the head of his hip was so severe he had to remove it - as he had done on Indie for a different reason!
The operation went well - and Shaggy was back with us within a few days, and has now been successfully re-homed and is doing great!

EDEN
Little Eden was found abandoned after some travellers moved away in a dreadful state - very thin and frightened
It soon became clear that all was not well with her back legs - and so yet again x-rays were taken to see what the problem was
The vet found she had quite major injuries to her pelvis and legs - something which had obviously happened some time ago but had not been treated
Because her injuries were so bad - the only thing that could be done to remove her pain was to remove the head of both her hips in two seperate operations - something our vet is getting pretty good at now as this is the third animal from DBARC he has had to perform this operation on!
We are pleased to report that Eden has now had both her operations and is making slow but steady progress
She remained at DBARC under veterinary care until she was ready to find a very special home as she is such a very special little dog, and we are happy to report she has now gone to live with her new family - and even came along to our Funday in July!

So - Bad Things Come in 3's!
